Movie Review: ‘Trolls Band Together’, a family film that accelerates with joy and melodiously fun

Branch (Justin Timberlake) and Poppy (Anna Kendrick) in Trolls Band Together

The Trolls are again back in a new adventure where we learn about Branch’s past. Branch was once part of a band with his brothers. After a sudden disagreement, the band breaks up. In his new life with Poppy, Branch must face his fears and confront the band again after one of his brothers is kidnap by a pair of evil wannabe singers who want to use Brother Flloyd’s harmony to become the next pop sensation. Branch, with the help of Poppy and his friends, goes on an adventure that leads to new discoveries for the pair, including the truth of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Director Walt Dohrn and co-directed by Tim Heitz presents another story in this glowing universe of the trolls to convey a message of unity and love. From the moment the film begins, we are placed into a new adventure that feels safe and engaging. Although the idea that the film can feel like a profit maker due to the talent that is involved, the film is charming and offers a sensation of musically that helps the story move in a good direction. Although some transitions between musical numbers and dialogue feel disconnected, the thought is buried with its dynamic animations and catchy tunes. The creative team also does a good job of keeping the momentum of the story straightforward and focused. Although we meet new characters throughout Branch’s and Poppy’s mission, the story doesn’t sidetrack from its purpose and originality.

Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Viva (Camila Cabello) in Trolls Band Together

The film brings back most of the same voice talent from the previous film such as Justin Timberlake as Branch and then Anna Kendrick as Poppy, but a few voices uplift the story more such as Camila Cabello as Poppy’s lost sister Viva, Andrew Rannells as Veneer, and Amy Schumer as Velvet to name a few provide more entertainment and clubbable to the franchise.

‘Trolls Band Together’ creates nostalgia for all ages as it brings back one of the most iconic pop bands, NSYNC back into our hearts. The collaboration between the film and the band creates a wild ride with joy which will Be ready to tap your foot throughout the film with another fun chapter in the Trolls universe!
