The Broadway tour musical of one of the most influential Latin couples, Gloria and Emilio Estefan is making waves in Los Angeles County. In this story, we become aware of the stellar evolution of one of the most popular couples that changed the music world forever. We learn the struggles it took Gloria and Emilio to break into the industry after being neglected for their race. Through their own music catalog, we learn about their powerful story.
Director and Choreography Luis Salgado achieve the ultimate accolade for creating a production that showcases an organic portrayal of a story of two people who were passionate, hardworking, and sympathetic to fight for their rights and their desires. Salgado also showcases in his choreography authentic dance styles that move the story in a genuine way that feels well ground and original. During some moments, the production feels like a party where you will just want to get up and dance on your feet. The production also includes a range of talented Hispanic actors that bring down the house with their heavenly good dance moves and their unique charisma. One highlight in the show is in the musical number ‘Wrapped’ where a message of community, love, and passion is felt at every corner with the support of traditional Puerto Rican dance styles and beautiful vivid lighting.

Samuel Garnica and Gaby Albo who play the admired couple in the musical display chemistry throughout the show that feels true to how engaged Gloria and Emilio are/were with each other. When Garnica and Albo sing together, the room is filled with fiery intensity and truth. Albo does a good job as Gloria, but her interpretation especially during concert-style numbers feels like more of a Selena or Jennifer Lopez energy. There is a moment where Albo shakes her buttocks and after research, discovered that Gloria never did those types of movements. Albo does her own take on Gloria but struggles to showcase Gloria’s real mannerisms, Albo’s voice is astounding though. As for Garnica, he steals the show with his righteous accent as Emilio and his clever humor.
