A new film has hit Apple TV+. This time, the spotlight belongs to ‘Ghosted’ with Chris Evans and Ana de Armas

‘Ghosted’ follows Cole (Chris Evans) and Sadie (Ana De Armas). They meet at a farmers market, where things don’t go well at first. Cole, amazed by Sadie’s flirtatious comebacks and interest to know more, offers an apology. After 48 hours, Cole and Sadie are deeply in love, but the unexpected occurs when Sadie ghosts Cole after a few dates. In the search of an answer, Cole finds a way to Sadie. There, Cole discovers Sadie’s true identity, a secret agent. Together, their real connection is tested when they need to come together to save the world.

‘Ghosted’ falls short in a lot of ways. First, the attention-getter title falls under its expectations due to a weak story and nowhere to find chemistry between its main characters. Armas and Evan’s bad chemistry is oblivious and obvious in almost every scene. Director Dexter Fletcher tries to create a sensual connection that is seen in a few scenes, but that is not enough to save the overall picture. At moments, their chemistry feels like they are practicing lines. Second, the series of events that lead to the discovery of Sadie’s true identity feel rushed. I felt like I didn’t have time to digest the information. It’s hard to know what was important here, the bounty story or the relationship between Sadie and Cole, It all falls flat.

The film includes a bus and car chase scene, which is probably the best moment in the film. The film includes surprise cameos that feel random and out of place, but cause a laugh or two, Also, the film includes a soundtrack that should be noticed only because it makes the few action sequences fun to watch. By the third act, the story has even more plot holes and includes a predictable ending. ‘We were all hoping that ‘Ghosted’ would bring something new to the table or be the new action couple franchise that is overdue, but sadly this one is not it. You are better off revisiting some of ‘Mr & Mrs. Smith’, ‘True Lies’, or even ‘The Tourist’.
