Halloween might be over but the spooks haven’t left Los Angeles, as the clever play 2:22 A Ghost Story has hit the beautiful Ahmanson theatre this Fall Season. With A star-studded that includes Constance Wu, Finn Wittrock, Anna Camp, and Adam Rothenberg, this 2-hour play will make your jaw drop multiple times, with a remarkable conclusion that is a rich theatre experience.

2:22 A Ghost Story tells the story of Jenny played by Constance Wu who is convinced that her new home is haunted after she experiences strange things for 4 nights at 2:22am. Jenny’s husband Sam played by Finn Wittrock has a disconnect with Jenny as he believes what Jenny is seeing and hearing is inaccurate and phony. Jenny and Sam invite their two friends Ben (Adam Rothenberg) and Lauren (Anna Camp) over for dinner. Jenny being questioned about the strange things happening at 2:22am invites her husband and her two friends to stay up until 2:22am. The unexpected happens in front of your eyes.

Danny Robin’s script brings together elements of the supernatural and horror that question reality. Are Ghosts real? Do Ghosts want to be found? Do Ghosts need disclosure? Should ghosts be bothered? Do Ghosts harm? How far can a ghost go to be heard? Why do Ghosts exist? With a play that pokes at reality versus illusion, Robbins makes sure to place its characters in situations where all your questions about the supernatural are answered. Robin creates chill-to-the-bone theatre magic that is shockingly good and quite unlike anything you probably will see on a stage. Director Matthew Dunster presents a mixture of fear and anticipation that embarks the viewer on a journey that is special and quite horrific. Anna Flesichle engages the viewer with her detailed scenic design of a beautiful home. The details are attractive and engaging as the home is a workable set with a real kitchen and an outside patio.

The studded star cast all put their foot forward to tell a good story, but Constance Wu steals the show with a mighty performance that is a whirl of emotions from beginning to end. It really is exciting to see Constance back doing her thing.
