The minions and a young Gru are back with a new chapter, Minions: The Rise of Gru. A wild adventure awaits you.
It’s the early 1970s, and a young Gru dreams of becoming a super villain. After hearing of a group of super villains called the Vicious 6, Gru is determined to be part of the black-hearted group. The group is not what it all seems, they have abolished their leader, Wild Knuckles after they worked together to steal an ancient artifact. Gru, unaware, meets the super villains and discovers their secret. Gru gets a hold of the ancient artifact but things don’t go as he plans. The minions head on a wild adventure to rescue their boss, Gru.

Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures have done it again creating a new adventure for the beloved characters. The plot brings nothing new to the franchise (something or someone goes missing with a big battle to wrap it up) but it’s entertaining and jollity. The Minions are back with more hysterical moments that will have you speaking about them after you step out of the theatre. Big thumbs up to Illuminations for a substantial great job on creating personality, a unique tongue, and different body shapes for the minions, which helps create of sense of inclusivity. For example, having minions speaking in French or Spanish or even having one wear a wig with colorful outfits helps create a world of belonging.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is a movie that gets better and better the more you watch it. The film offers easter eggs and introduces new generations to the era of the 70s. The film has an excellent soundtrack with new renditions of 70s favorites like Funkytown from Lipps Inc. The new track is by St. Vincent. Take a listen below.
